Christie denies he didn't think Romney could win

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is denying a published report that he had turned down an offer to be Mitt Romney's running mate because he didn't think Romney could win the presidential race.

Christie made the denials Tuesday in a round of television interviews, in which he was asked about a report Monday in the New York Post. Christie says he was the first governor to back Romney and believes he's "the best guy to be president."

Christie will deliver the keynote address at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night.

He said he plans to talk about the choices he's made in New Jersey and how that could work on a national level.
