
Deborah Pomianek
WASHINGTON, D.C. ? On Saturday, Oct. 27, the National Conference of Executives of The Arc (NCE) awarded Deborah Pomianek with the Outstanding Professional Achievement Award. This award recognizes NCE members who live by the core values of The Arc by providing leadership resulting in a significant improvement in supports and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
Pomianek, who serves as the associate executive director of The Arc of Union County, shared, ?I feel so humble, so honored and so very proud to be the face for this distinguished recognition, because to me it celebrates the outstanding achievements of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the incredible work of The Arc of Union County, the strength and advocacy of our volunteer leadership and the excellence and integrity in the services we all provide. I have a remarkable Arc of Union County family and want to recognize our self-advocates and the individuals we serve for their inspiration, guidance and support. I also want to recognize our fabulous direct support staff. The tremendous care, love and dedication our staff demonstrate every day is phenomenal and I so appreciate the opportunity to work with and learn from them.? In conclusion Pomianek said, ?I also want to thank my fantastic children, Zachary and Laura, who I am so very proud of, and who mean the world to me. And a special thanks to my extraordinary husband Joe, who makes it all possible for me.?
Pomianek has been with The Arc of Union County for over 22 years. As second in command of the $20 million agency, she has provided programmatic, budgetary, contractual and administrative oversight of services and supports for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Pomianek designed and implemented program initiatives which include: inclusive day care for pre-schoolers with and without disabilities, an outstanding early intervention program, special needs housing for seniors and individuals with significant medical needs as well as developmental disabilities, a specialized adult medical day program and diverse family support programs.
The Arc of Union County, Executive Director Frank Caragher said, ?Deborah Pomianek?s combination of intelligence, kindness and productivity is unique. Her excellent ability to communicate, so others can understand and support our cause, results in her high degree of success in obtaining support. Her dynamism is fueled by her intense commitment to people with disabilities and their families. Deb is a tireless champion of The Arc?s core values. She is unparalleled in her contributions to the lives of the individuals we serve.?
